I was looking at your site, and I came across the Flood of '93 pictures,and it brought back (pardon the french) a flood or memories and emotions. If I remember correctly, there was a prior flood, I thought in 92 or so. I was younger, and I dont really remember. But the flood I am thinking of was a flash flood. It came out of nowhere.... went to bed at 12, I stayed up to watch something on tv, and at 2 am there was a crack of lightening, and I was in horror at what I saw. When it was all done and said, We had 3 feet of water in our trailer.... we lived in Independence, along the Wapsie...and my grandmother just down the way at the "backwash". We lost everything we owned... EVERYTHING except for the clothes we were wearing and 2 dogs. Maybe if someone can post more pictures, I can finally put all those emotions to rest... or even if you wanted to email them to me at this email addy... omitted - see below.
